Do you like Penn Battle II and now want something similar but much better? You might want to check out CFT6000. Don’t get fooled by its compact size; when it comes to performance, CFT6000 is as good as they come.

This reel has almost the same configuration as its sibling, but offers a little bit more drag and cut a little bit more weight out of it. Perfectly suitable for even some bottom fishing, in addition to dolphin, Wahoo, kingfish, the CFT6000 offers great value for money.

Main Usage

This is an all aluminum bodied reel, having aluminum rotor, aluminum reel, aluminum spool, and aluminum handle. Aluminum reels are much stronger than the rest—and CFT6000 is no exception to this.

The reel features an oversized EVA knob, much bigger than the one present in the CFT5000. Weighing at 21.5oz, the CFT6000 is built to tackle bigger fish, like Tarpon, Dorado, Blue fish, etc. It offers a lot of power and also includes a friction trip bail system, which slows the trip when you have got the bail open and its breaking. This, in turn, stops the bail from tripping.

You get a lot of drag pressure from the CFT6000 and the retrieves are smooth, without any jerky movements, all thanks to its techno-balanced rotor. It also offers tremendous line capacity rings to ensure you are never short of adjustment possibilities when you let the line out. Furthermore, its bearing system, featuring 7+1 stainless steel ball bearings, is just awesome and doesn’t ever let you down.

Reel Body:

The CFT6000 is solidly built and has an aluminum body. Penn has always offered users strongly-build reels, and the same is true for CFT6000. While the reel is extremely strong and sturdy, it weighs less than many similarly powerful reels. Cast it once and you’ll realize, much to your surprise, how much power it has.

Drag System:

Like other PENN reels of this series, the CFT6000 also features the sealed HT-100 Drag System. This drag system has been much appreciated by inshore anglers, and it is not hard to understand why this is so.

The drag system is smooth and of high-quality, so the risk of broken lines and lost fish is extremely low. Thanks to the non-constrictive and smooth drag of CFT6000, the line pulls out steadily at different tensions. What’s more, the drag system is sealed, so you wouldn’t have to worry about it getting damaged because of wear and tear anytime soon.

Ball Bearings:

If you found the bearing system of Penn Battle II efficient, you are going to simply love CFT6000’s bearing system. While Battle II had 7 bearings in total, this one features 8, 7 in the body and 1 in the line roller. With 7 bearings in the body, your retrieves will be much smoother compared to Battle II.

In fact, in this price range, the CFT 6000 probably boasts of the most efficient bearing system. Another thing it its favor is that it has opted for sealed stainless steel ball bearings. These bearings last longer, and there’s no risk of corrosion, either.
